today's trib...lots of school districts are rehiring at least some of the teachers laid off in the spring...but NOT d87. 39 were laid off, and none rehired. so...larger class sizes, and no dropping/changing of schedules...discuss? "this (surplus) is not all unicorns and rainbows..." true enough.
I think unions are bloodsuckers for the most part, but in fairness, why would they open their contract when there is more than a million dollar surplus? That would be bad business on their part. After all, it is their livelihood.
Now, there's more money coming in from the feds? If they're not getting it in my property taxes, they're taking it directly out of my paycheck....and (more realistically) the checks of my children and grandchildren.
