Maybe I'm just completely out of it but why are the flags at West and the District office at half-staff?

I wonder if my school has lowered theirs. I hadn't noticed. I'll look today. I wonder if they announced this at the school? My daughter can't hear the announcements because of where her class is located during the time they are made....

That flag at the district building is at half on a regular basis.

I suppose that means a lot of soldiers from Illinois are being killed.

I'm not sure about the specific protocol, but I believe it is to go to half mast on the day of the soldier's funeral, and then three days after that.

"Governor Quinn has ordered that all State-occupied facilities fly the flag of the United States of America and Illinois flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of the funeral of every fallen Illinois soldier and the two days preceding that day."

That may require some fortune telling....

Actually I believe they are at half-staff in memory of our economy and way of life under the new administration.
