State High School Athletic Association from 2001 to present, 6) all communications between employees and agents of District 87 and employees and agents of Glenbard West regarding sporting activities conducted or identified as emerging sports from 2001 to present, 7) all records of sporting activities conducted on Memorial Field from the date of the field's opening to present, 8) all records of leasing Memorial Field from its date of opening to present, 9) all records of revenues generated by District 87 with respect to leasing or other uses of Memorial Field, 10) all lease agreements for use in the future regarding Memorial Field, 11) all records of activities regarding solicitation of funds or fund raising activities regarding the proposed installation of lights at Memorial Field, 12) all communications received by District 87 from any persons, organizations or corporations offering to pledge or donate funds in order to finance the proposed installation of lights at Memorial Field. ..On August 9, 2011, the District received a Freedom of Information Act request from Mr. Jim Ozog requesting any and all records and schedules of sporting activities (including all competitions and practices) conducted on Duchon Field from the beginning of the 2008 school year until the present, and any and all plans and schedules of sporting activities (including all competitions and practices) to be held at or on Duchon Field during the 2011-2012 school year. The District is in the process of responding to this request.
Sounds like Mr. Ozog is trying to fact check the District's claims re: the need for Memorial Field usage. Probably put in the original request, and review of the docs provided prompted requests for further docs to try and complete the puzzle.

Heard my name was mentioned on the GEEB. Glad to see concern and involvement on both sides of the issues. Let me put the FOIA's in context. The Board minutes omitted to mention that the requests were made by me as one of the attorneys on behalf of OFOT. We are preparing for the upcoming Plan Commission hearing. I am volunteering all of my time. District 87 is represented by 2 downtown attorneys and several expert witnesses, all paid for by our tax dollars.
amazing to me that it requires an employee on the D87 payroll to handle the Foia requests. Why cant things be transparent?
Because not everything is subject to release under the FOIA, or is limited to viewing only. For instance there are confidential communications and information proprietary to private businesses that gov possess as part of their normal course of business. Proprietary stuff has economic value that competitors would love to obtain via a simple FOIA and knowing in advance certain gov plans can result in tidy ripoffs of the taxpayer.
