Are the Ozogs seeking injunctive relief to stop the Circle Dance tonight?

The noise and lights from GW, the affect on student GPAs, and exactly why does Justice Odom want to attend?

Post of the month . . . and it is early. Thumbs up, Artemis.

I am a block away and the noise is deafening. Oh, wait. Scratch that. Can't hear a thing . . . and the windows are open.

mykidsmom...renting out the field until 10:00 7 nights a week for non-high school related events is not the same as events for the high school. I think you are being unfair and not fully understanding all of the facts and concerns about lighting Memorial Field. Those of us that chose to buy a house near the high school knew that there would be high school related events happening (including allowing students to park in front of our houses during the week) and we do not complain about any of them.

FWIW, I hate all pro/anti lights people. Just hate people in general now. Everyone in GE. Hate them all. Except for the girl at Honey who sells me coffee Saturday and Sunday. The inaccuracies and deception on both sides of the argument are more than my big stomach can take. Suddenly everyone lies and misrepresents to strengthen their stance.

Didn't hear a thing. Then again, it was on the other side of the hill.

Clam, my "NO" sign is gone now, so you can hate me less maybe? After sitting through two of the latest meetings, I can no longer side with the no light camp. The arguments against are so trivial compared to the arguments for. And by miles. Not that I am pro lights either. Its more that I now don't care.

I understand their like of desire to not have lights. Really do. But, I have always used exaggeration as a vehicle for humor. Not a vehicle for fear of change. It's almost as if these two sides have never sat down and spoken to one another. Simply put, the only argument they should have is that the poles and lights will be ugly and they will be too bright. Everything is seems to be fable. I think it is a two way street, though. I can't for the life of me figure out when they will be used. Especially since they will NOT be leasing the field to outside organizations . . . and all activity will cease by 9 P.M. Sure would like the gate to be unlocked.

Where did you hear that they (I take that to be Dist. 87) will not be leasing the field to outside organizations? That, as I understand it, is one of the main sticky points in the lights/field use issue.

I have been told by a couple of reliable D87 sources, whose words I have always and will always trust, that there are no intentions of leasing that thing to outside groups. There may be confusion in the fact that the agreement between the PD and D87 allows for the PD to use the field for 20 weekend events during (or weekends, not certain which) during the school year. Otherwise, it's all school related use. Seemed like a piggish explanation . . . that it was all for D87 and they aren't turning it into a $$$ maker.

Anyway, if you cannot or do not believe what they have to say, there really is zero reason to sit at a table with one another, is there? At the very least . . . it makes for awesome theater.

Someone sent this story to me. The same story I quoted this classic Daily Herald line: "Ozog asked Glenbard West Assistant Principal for Athletics Linda Oberg if coaches have been enticed by other schools because there’s no lights." I was so tickled by the hilarious and appalling (not to mention incorrect) usage of a contraction by Christopher Placek (word out to Mr. Placek, I have always thought that the use of contractions should be limited to the most casual of writings . . . not business, and not news articles . . . but that's (sorry . . . that is) me) that I neglected to read any further.

While I know his wife, I have never met her husband. Prolly a nice fellow. Most of us are. And though it certainly seems that he is passionate, I cannot help but think that if anyone read or witnessed the following exchange that they would come to the conclusion that we are bat **** crazy in Glen Ellyn! Big Grin NOTE: I am not saying that that he is BSC, just that the line of questioning is BSC.

"Upon discussion of the proposed metal-halide lamp bulbs, Ozog brought up a published warning from manufacturer Musco Lighting, the district’s lighting consultant: that the bulb may break, and pieces of hot glass could be discharged into the “surrounding environment.”

Ryan Marsh of Musco, said the “surrounding environment” is considered to be within an enclosed fixture that would prevent anything from going outside it, or external factors coming in.

But he agreed that Musco does have to post a notice about potential breakage, personal injury and property damage, per governmental regulation.

“Will you offer this community a 25-year guarantee that our houses will not catch on fire and that our trees will not catch on fire?” Ozog asked.

“I cannot do that,” Marsh responded. “It’s not part of the warranty.”"

Note to self. I live one block from the area where Glen Ellyn intentionally launches hundreds of incendiary devices into the air on an annual basis . . . and I live in a wooden house! Better talk to the village about that. Eek

Oh my! Or one of the news helicopter that often fly over GE could fall on a house! And the boogie man will get you if you don't watch out!

When you can't (Sorry, Clam) dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bats**t statements about warranty.

I think that is the old saying..

“just like in real life there's still rules on this team. Unlike real life? Nobody's above the rules on this field."

I too live near the school, but please enlighten me (bwahahahaha, pun intended) as to where you are getting your info? I never seen 7 days a week or until 10 pm anywhere!!

The school did say that all activity shall cease no later than 9 PM. But, lights will stay on for 15-30 minutes after the end of whatever activity in order to get people and participants out and the field cleaned. So, in theory, the lights might be on until 9:15-9:30 if someone is using it until the max time of 9.
