Well, holiday extravaganza or whatever PC term is appropriate nowadays. But all of the music groups - bands, choirs, orchestra - are performing tonight. This is the first winter concert under the new band and choir directors. Always a good show so you might want to venture out into the cold.

Concert starts at 7:30. Tickets are $5 or $2 with your booster card. I would highly recommend bringing your Hadley students. The highschool groups are outstanding!

Unlike most concerts, this one has assigned seating. Also, it is generally quite well attended, so you might not want to show up at the last minute and assume you will get a good (or perhaps any) seat.

I already got my tickets. Students in the music program could buy them in advance. The band will be in the balcony from what my daughter told me.

Did anyone attend? How was it? I wanted to go, but was up in Boulder Junction.

If the new Choir Director does even half as good a job as Mr. Whitecotton, I'm sure it was a fabulous concert!

Woo-hoo! Thanks Mrs. Speech...I am all off on my days with all that is going on right now...thought that it was on Sunday night (isn't that when they usually held those concerts???).

BTW, if anyone is into winter sports, Boulder Junction has some of the best cross country skiing trails I've ever experienced. Best scenery, awesome grooming, etc... We had about 15" of snow on the ground and received another inch or two of powder yesterday. Just an FYI for anyone looking for a fun winter weekend in the Northwoods!

Overall, quite an enjoyable concert.
I just wish they could have had more groups file on and off stage separately to see if they could have hit the 3-hour mark! Wink

It was a nice concert and I bet they could have easily hit the 3 hour mark if the Madrigal group and Voicemale groups performed...there was also no jazz band that might have also been a nice additionRazz

Coming next semester - a gospel choir?
Nothing like a bunch of upper middle class white kids getting down!
Voicemale sang one song/commercial jingle in the foyer before the program, followed by the women's a cappella (sp?).

Great concert, as always - not just because my son participated! But husband and I, too, had to laugh at the notion of the gospel choir, and the adorable attempt of the choirs last night to sing songs with street cred. Um, didn't quite work, but they did look like they were having fun.

I applaud the choir director's attempt to attract more kids to the music program, but I'm just not sure gospel is the way to go. And from the reaction of many of the band members (according to said son) as they watched the gospel song backstage - I'm not sure the kids think it's the way to go, either.
