ok, SchoolWeek arrived yesterday, with a great article on billy williams and his 3 GBS grandchildren. then, I read that Hadley is getting rid of homework. mentioned this to my GBW student who tells me that there is talk of the same thing happening at west. anyone heard anything?
Read that article again...they aren't getting rid of homework. It just counts in the effort grade instead of the acheivement grade. They still have homework - trust me! I don't think homework will ever go away.

Daily homework shouldn't be given an achievement grade. It's supposed to be practice and reinforcement of the lesson for the day. I believe it should be reviewed in class or by the teacher and corrected as the learning tool it is supposed to be. If a child tries but doesn't "get it" this is where it should be caught and remedied before testing. Please don't give a child busy work. If I had a nickel for every "busy work assignment" my kids had over the years, I wouldn't have to move from beautiful GE when we retire.
