Excellent D87 concert

I so often criticize our schools, I try to make sure I acknowledge their successes as well. And last night's D87 orchestra concert was definitely a success.

Each year the district gathers its best musicians from the 4 points of the compass, and forms a district-wide orchestra, choir, and band. Last night was the orchestra concert at East.

What a talented group of students were represented there! (And you couldn't beat the home-made munchies afterwards! Mmmm - snickerdoodles!)

Each year one or another of our schools' athletic teams excel - but our music programs are impressive year in and year out. Would be nice to see some mention of events such as last night's concert in the local rags.

Compliments - and thanks - to everybody involved: the administration, staff, parents, and wonderfully talented kids.

Here's a subtle hint from my previous post:

I knew the reference to snickerdoodles would catch your eye! Wink

IMO it is a shame D87's and D41's excellent music and theater programs do not get more press and community support.

West is putting on Aida next month, 11/13-15. All of their performances - especially their musicals - are generally quite good. I believe East is showing The Sound of Music that same weekend.
