On nwburbs site, there is a delusional young man/woman from Glendale Heights that insists that there was discussion about "shutting" Glenbard West at the last meeting. The minutes are not yet on the site. Understanding that there has been talk for what seems like decades of eventually closing the schools, is there anything new regarding this? My guess is no...but anyone know what the talk was...or was not?

I agree. I said he/she was dilusional. Just wondered if something was brought up that may have been misconstrued and given him/her a glimmer of hope.

Sort of like a Chicken Little reaction.

This is actually a person from Glendale Heights that is desperate to build a new school on Army Trail and wherever. They want West to close and the new school to be built so GH kids don't have to travel into GE. Apparently, for one reason or another, attending school at West is cruel and unusual punishment. I am under the impression that, due to the fact that the school was built in its present location some 80+ years ago...he/she feels that we in GE are selfish for not wanting it close it, move GE kids to G. South, and build another school...or some other kind of BS.

I contend that they should have thought about school boundaries when investing in a particular neighborhood.

Closing West makes no sense. It is as much of a GE jewel as "Lake" Ellyn. Then again, I Love Hubble Middle School in Wheaton too.

I'd strongly support a move to build a High School in GH, I think that would be something worth paying higher taxes for. Even substantially higher taxes in the short term.

I would support a move to create a unit district of 41, 89, South & West. And I would consider a unit district of 41 & West, although at that point I wonder if it might just be best to split the Village and create two towns centered upon their respective schools.

I think they were just thinking of this, along with some new paint and some boxwoods along the driveway.

I belive it was or is suppose to be Glenbard Central. I'm for it too. I always voted for it when it did come on the ballot.

Shuttering - it does look funny, spellingwise. The shutter picture is perfect! Post that on NWBURBS.net

Turns out the person on the other board was...uh...mistaken. Planting info to futher their cause. Actually, claiming that the D87 board was doing illegal stuff by talking about closing the school in private session...then, oddly, talking to friends about it. Who then told this person. Disregard any talk of closing GW for the time being.

Seems I was duped again.

Good advice from our real friend.
