District 87 now has their agenda packets on-line for review before the meetings.
Glenbard District 87 Agendas The new software for posting documents is from Boardbook. If you do not like to way it formats the information, send them your criticism. It looks like the links to the documents change dynamically and might not be the same link from day to day, so you must directly download from the District 87 agenda web page. There is a financial presentation for Monday, October 26 under the discussion section. To get to the PDF, click on the "Discussion Item(s)" link under "Contents" on the left side of the agenda. Item "D" is called "Management Efficiency Plan Presentation". Click on the "Cost Reduction Plan" link. The presentation was created in landscape mode, but the PDF has it in portrait mode. You might not be able to rotate the presentation while viewing it in the browser. In that case, save the PDF by clicking on the disk icon and then bring it back up natively in Adobe Acrobat. Then goto View->RotateView->Clockwise to rotate the presentation (or Shift+Control+Plus). Givien the need for cost cutting, the presentation answers such questions as: 1. District 87 had a $12.7M surplus in 2008, why are we now cost cutting? 2. Why did we recently purchase a new phone system? 3. Why did we recently purchase many new computers? 4. Why are we adding artificial turf to schools? This message has been edited. Last edited by: GELady, |

First attachment requires that you tilt your head at a 90% to read it. Second doesn't exist at all.

taxpayer,
I edited my previous post to help you out. I'm 55 and can deal with new technology. If you can figure out how to delete your snide post, then I will delete this post also. |

Thanks for the instructions. My annoyance was directed more at the people who put the pages in that type format.
But to your question looking at the numbers. District 87 probably will have to cutback yes they have a 15M surplus now but by the end of the 2010 school year that will decrease to 10M . They can expect very little if any increases from local property taxes. And not much from the state. They can also not expect wages and benefits costs to go up. Out of a 130M budget 82M goes to salaries and benefits. That is over 60% of the budget. Capital outlays which I'm guessing is where the computers and telephone systems come from cost 8M or roughly 7% of the budget. So three is not that much there to cut. All government below the federal level is looking at how to trim costs. They over spent during the boom. And now they're paying for it. |
