I guess the bigger question is what if he doesn't get the job? Do we get to start looking for a new super now that we know he wants out? And if he has a contract, how well will he run the schools?

Seems like a PR nightmare to me.

The little "News" link at the top right of the page is a link to a a Google News search for anything with "glen ellyn" in it. It popped up there last night.

Monona appears to be near Madison, WI.

Has he been here long enough to qualify for his IL pension?

This is his second year I think. I highly doubt that entitles anything but his pay. I'm curious what happened to his Wisconsin pension when he left. Can you put it "on hold"?

I was pretty much kidding.
But it makes it harder to believe that anything is "for the children" when yet another mercenary is revealed.

Maybe they should have followed D41's strategy, and instead of hiring an up-and-comer, paid a premium salary for someone who wasn't even wanted by their own district... Wink

Man, I just re-read the article linked in the OP. Apparently I skimmed it pretty quickly before, because I didn't appreciate that this guy is interviewing for THE EXACT JOB HE LEFT TO COME HERE! WTF?

Says he's meeting with the local cheeseheads tonight, and a decision will be made within the week.

The way I read it, he was Principal of the High School. Now he is trying to go back to be Superintendent.

Right you are.
I guess my initial quick scan was more accurate than my 2d look.

Do you think that maybe he was told that in a couple of years the
Super job would open up and it would be his if say he had a couple of years of being a super someplace else. Lucky us we helped punch his ticket.

taxpayer, I think that's exactly wht happened. I spoke with people on the committe to hire him a few years ago. He applied for a job in Iowa before us and was turned down. I think we were his stepping stone. Fom what I googled the other guy has a little more experience. I'm not sure how much it matters. He only has a yera left on his contract. I hope that if he gets the job, the board doesn't just say OK. I hope that if we paid any upfron expenses such as moving we get them back before we release him.

And, it wouldn't bother me if - in the event he DOESN'T get the job, D87 cans his a$$.

Sure didn't thrill me to see his smiling face on the front of the glossy West mailing this week, touting the thrilling things ahead for the district.

We need someone who wants to invest in the community...not an outsider...we need someone who will put the schools and the community first. The last two supers have really sucked big time and left laughing all the way to the bank. I've lost all confidence in the board and administration...we will remain stagnant until we get someone who has an investment in the communities it serves.
