What this proves is how unimportant the role of super is . We've had what three in the last four years. Can anyone say they have noticed a change good or bad in D87 in that time. Has there been a decline in test scores etc. But still we're told that we need to shell out 300K per year for some of these guys though there is no evidence that they in any way have any direct impact on the quality of the schools.

Is there anyone in our district qualified to be a super? I look at the three associates: financial guy is going to be new; HR qualified??? and curriculum is retiring next year. Do you feel confident with one of the present principals even with no super experience? They would be vested in the future of D87.

I was sad to see Pam Zimmerman leave West and be bumped upstairs. I'm not sure exactly what she is doing for the district, but I have a hard time imagining any management task that incredibly capable woman could not handle.

Ditto Dins...The principal at East could be in the running too. I'm not familiar with the principal at North and as far as South goes, I don't think she is qualified.

I agree about Pam Zimmermann. Can she change her mind about retirement and stay? I saw a presentation from the East princpal a few years back. I could see a future with him.

In all honesty does it make a difference who runs D87 or D41 for that matter. How does the super directly impact your kids education. They have little real power cant hire or fire their most important workers which is the teachers. The various departments are run like fiefs so why get so worked up over who is the super. Hell you can leave the post vacant for a year or so and see how unimportant it is.

Awesome. That means we have a lame duck Super that doesn't want to be here.
This should be interesting.

Article in Schoolweek this a.m. says he also interviewed for another Madison job last year. Man, this guy is REALLY thrilled to be working here! How much are we paying him to job hunt?

I loved the line that stated, the fact that he didn't get the job just reinforces his committment to the district. Well no duh, you can't get two other jobs in your old backyard with your homies. Welcome to being stuck in District 87.

I just read the article. What a crock! I must remember not to read stuff like that while I eat lunch as it is impossible to do the Hemlich on one's self!

"as it is impossible to do the Hemlich on one's self!" Not so Scotty. You can throw yourself over the back of a chair. This is a public service announcement while reading SchoolWeek publication.
