Hmmmm....police are made aware on May 30, 2007. The public is made aware on June 7, 2007. In spite of the fact that there is an ongoing investigation for other possible victims, somehow Lombard found it OK to share this information with the public.....what a concept....The GE polit bureau could learn a few things from them. Where is TASS when you need them?

This fellow must be in his pre-retirement salary bump period. According to www.thechampion.org, he has gone from a paltry $88K in 2002 to over $100K in 2006.

By the numbers, here's what The Champion database shows for his salary since 1999:

I was curious to see what our tax dollars pay for a "driver's ed" teacher who also likes to get in the pants of underage girls. No numbers for 2004 or 2005.

B) Where exactly does a 58 year-old man go to have....uh....physical relations with a 17 year-old girl?

Didn't the article say it happened at his home? Seems to be a willing, albeit underage, participant.

I think you're right about the age thing. I think the age of consent for a teacher/student is higher than student/student. Just ask that idiot from Hinsdale Central.

You are also correct that the harm done to the student by these teacher/student sex cases is not the same in each case. I would just add that I think the penalty for the teacher should be harsh, regardless of the harm to the student. You seem to be opening the door just a little on the side of sympathy for the adult.

Not intending to open the door just a little, so much as flinging it wide open dependent upon the facts of an individual case. JMO.

What was the drivers ed teacher tutoring her in?
Why was the tutoring at his home?
note to self: If my daugther needs tutoring make sure it is in our home when we are present or at a public place like the library

As long as she is a student age does not matter. She could be 21. The teacher is in a position of authority. She can not consent no matter how old she is.

I think it would be helpful if you indicated that you were expressing your opinion on the subject, because I believe Illinois law differs:

(720 ILCS 5/12-13) (from Ch. 38, par. 12-13)
Sec. 12-13. Criminal Sexual Assault.
(a) The accused commits criminal sexual assault if he or she:
(1) commits an act of sexual penetration by the use
of force or threat of force; or
(2) commits an act of sexual penetration and the
accused knew that the victim was unable to understand the nature of the act or was unable to give knowing consent; or
(3) commits an act of sexual penetration with a
victim who was under 18 years of age when the act was committed and the accused was a family member; or
