I just made these for a cocktail party and they were a huge hit! I normally don't like things Emeril makes, but these are definitely a keeper! I used curry insteaed of cumin and it worked well.

I bought my nuts (I used walnuts, hazlenuts and pecans) at Trader Joes, but I know Costco is a good place to get them cheaper too (or Aldi, when they have them):

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups unsalted mixed nuts, such as walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, and almonds
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Mix spices and reserve.

Heat the nuts in a dry skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until they begin to toast, about 4 minutes. Add the butter and cook, stirring, until the nuts begin to darken, about 1 minute. Add the spices, the sugar, 1 tablespoon water, and the salt and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens and the nuts are glazed, about 5 minutes.

Remove the nuts from the heat and transfer to a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, separating them with a fork. Let the nuts stand until cooled and the sugar has hardened, about 10 minutes. Store in an airtight container.

Sounds good. But, frankly, you threw me with the title.

Make some and drop them off at my house. If I'm not there...leave them with the kids.

Nothing like having some spice on your nuts, eh Clam?

Shall I drop them actually at the house, or just use them to fill up the potholes out front? ;-)

Didn't you get your invitation tied to that rock I sent sailing through your window? Wink

You wouldn't have had a good time...no Absolut, only Grey Goose, and just a bunch of 'mo's hanging around licking spiced nut residue off their fingers. If that didn't do you in, we would have lost you when naked Twister started.

I've been to wilder. I lived in Atlanta during the gay heyday. And it seems, IIRC, that every one of my friends was a queen. I even have a Harvey Milk keyring. That's why Fish seems to think that I lean way to the left.

And I gladly drink GG and Belv. With a twist, with an olive....straight from the bottle.

Damn you, GER...must you judge all of us straight people so harshly?

Get the spiced nuts to my house by the weekend and all is forgiven.

Haven't heard that name in a long-a** time. You're my new best friend, call you every five minutes. I'll put a batch of nuts in the oven this weekend.

Thanks for the tip Mr. A. It is true, I have never seen so much hate between two people.

Oh, and do you and the Mrs. go to Cottage Inn on 51??? Now I think it's Chef Tom's Cottage Inn.

Yes we do. It's our next door neighbor's favorite place for Friday fish fry. The first time we ever went there was back in the 70's when it was still McDonald's (not the golden arches). Been going there off and on for about 30 years.

So have I! Small world. I noticed that the WI house is in Harshaw (from the pics you posted) so I had to ask. I have family that owned a resort for many years in Tomahawk on Lake Nokomis.

Does Twin Bay still make the best thincrust pizza? I haven't been there for about 3-4 years.

Been to Twin Bay many times for pizza! For years, the only pizza you could get was frozen Tombstone made in one of those little pizza cookers. Now there are a couple of local Harshaw bars that are making decent pizza. As much as it pains me to admit, the Pizza Hut in Rhinelander makes a decent pizza. Not like anything around here. And delivery is out of the question from anyone.

Have you ever been to Pinewood Country Club? They had excellent food back in before they scaled down the restaurant. Tony used to work there when he was a teenager. And we've always liked T 'n T's WillowHaven.

I'm glad they still have pizza there. We used to know the owners very well, but don't anymore.

I remember only being able to get 'bar pizza!' Our mom would crack up because we all hated Tombstone pizza back home, but when it came out of the cool little oven on the bar, we just loved it!

Never been to Pinewood, but definitely know of it. We go to Norwood Pines in Minocqua off 70 a lot, and Voss's and Little Bohemia in Manitowish Waters.
