Great game. Gutsy call going for two at that time...but it worked out well. One major thing this year over last, after witnessing several scrimages, it is clear as water that these kids like the new coach. He is more instruction and encouragement than intimidation, and let's be frank...the majority of these kids probably are not college football material...so it is pleasant to see them enjoy themselves unlike last year.

And if I hear one more Hinsdalian whining about a bad call...I will puke. That's the absolute best thing about high school sports, IMO...the play is called on the field. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it goes against you. Period. Had that very conversation with two separate red clad couples walking to their cars, FWIW, from my angle...ball came out before he hit the ground.

Congrats to West for a very good year.

SEXY UPDATE:

My next door neighbor films and edits all the games. Tape clearly shows that it was a fumble...not caused by the ground. Refs got the call right.

God, I hate those Hinsdale whiners.

That's an awfully large population to hate!

Hilltopper son confirms that the Clamato neighbor video shows the ball was clearly out before HC player was down - for those of you who may want another opinion. Video also shows extensive, and very entertaining celebrating by coaches after that key play and then the win.

Great game! No question it was a good call. The same kid who fumbled it couldn't catch a pass all day! He stood arguing with the ref and no coach stepped in to move the kid to the sideline.

Also, for the record, the Freshman A team was undefeated and only allowed four touchdowns on defense and one on special teams in nine games for a scoring ratio of 257-32 CORRECTION 253-35. Now, the disclaimer, I have a son on the team. There's nothing better than watching a game and seeing the lake in the distance. It's a beautiful thing. Go G-dub!

Good luck in the playoffs GS!

FWIW - The JV started their season winning against Hinsdale Central back in August. They went on to win the conference at that level. The team was undefeated, but tied at Oak Park. They were led by Coaches Neiss and O'Day.

Good Luck, Hilltoppers.

Hopefully, starting the playoffs against Reavis will be a repeat of the playoff run from 1976 during the Duchon era.

They play at home against Chicago King in the first round of the IHSA Class 6A playoffs.

UPDATE: Drove by Raider Stadium on the way home from Grandma's. South 41, King 0 with 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Anyone know if the Hitters are having as good of an evening? Hope so.

Kudos to Tap House Grill...

With their banners in the front windows, 0ur newest retailer/restraunteer is the ONLY building in the CBD that does anything to congratulate the Hilltoppers.

Pretty obvious the owners are from St. Charles... they haven't grown that "Glen Ellyn Sheen" yet where you crap on or ignore everything/everyone else around you.

Nice job THG!

Ummmm, that's called a "petina". They talk about it all the time on Antique Road Show. Big Grin
