A rare event Saturday at Duchon as the school is allowing the varsity lacrosse team to play on the field as they try to clinch a playoff spot. Will be playing West Chicago...and these teams do not like each other.
If you have never seen a game and are interested, start time is 2 o'clock. Should be over around 3:30.
I think you should all go and watch. Will be the perfect follow-up to watching our game at 10:00 AM.
This is not directly related but I heard a rumor that GBW wants to put artificial turf on Duchon Field....anyone else hear this?

I have to say that while I'm sure it's hard to deal with the wear and tear placed on the fields, turf seems like a horrible idea. Why was grass OK for the entire history of GBW but now they need turf???? I'm lost again and knocking on my noggin' to figure out why I must be missing something....

I agree with you Amy. I'd like to hear their reasoning. My son's soccer team had to practice on artificial turf during the growing years of high school and boy was that hard on their bodies. Many suffered stress fractures. My son had a stress fx in his foot but two boys had stress fx of their vertebrae! All of them suffered in one way or another. As soon as we could find another practice field we were done with that nonsense. I'm sure the "product" has improved but how much will that cost us?
The fields at Wheaton College and WNHS are pretty nice. The stuff our little boys played lacrosse on was like natural turf. New turf technology is much, much safer than the old stuff. Injuries not like they were in the early days of turf. More along the lines of natural grass. That being said...I find the prospect of Duchon Field covered in plastic to be positively ridiculous...and totally unnecessary.

The financial Wizards at the district level realized it don't cost that much to bring back 7th period so they have to find something to spend the extra cash on...
