Pre-sale tickets for the West/South football game are available in the athletic office during regular school hours. Adults $4, Students $2, Senior Citizens over 65 $1. Please bring exact change.

When is the game? I think my girls might enjoy it, even though we don't know anyone playing.

GBS @ GBW is this Saturday 8/28 (times noted in a post above).

For those with only a casual interest in Glen Ellyn high school football, it should be noted that the new head coach for South is West's former defensive coach, Jeremy Cordell. Coach Cordell was an important part of the Hitters' highly touted defensive success the past few years.

At West Coach Cordell was respected by his players and demonstrated to them good character and a strong work ethic. West's loss is definitely South's gain! Good luck to all for a great game Saturday!!

The Crosstown Classic is one of my favorite sporting events for several reasons:

Shows off the deep talent of Glen Ellyn football, bands, cheerleading, dance etc. (And this does not even include GE's great Montini, St. Francis and Benet fall talent.)

Gives grade-schoolers something to aspire to

Promotes sportmanship, neighborliness, fun, the booster programs

Brings 5,000 members of our community to one place at one time

The weather is usually good!


Too bad this event is ending this year... but maybe having a decade or so span between the series is the right thing to do.

Anyway, along with the nearby Arts Festival, the Bridge event at COD, and a ton of local sporting and social events, it should be a great weekend in town!

P.S. Let's not forget that with all the good times happening, a local marine who died in Afghanistan will also be laid to rest this Saturday. It brings it all full circle.
