CLASS 7A FIRST ROUND PAIRINGS (with game times) (Seeds precede school name) Upper Bracket This bracket was seeded in two halves to reduce travel times. #8 Chicago Heights (Marian) (6-3) at #1 Chicago (Bogan) (9-0), TBA #5 Plainfield (North) (7-2) at #4 Chicago (St. Rita) (7-2), Sat. 6:00 p.m. #7 Burbank (St. Laurence) (6-3) at #2 Wheaton (W. That would be a great game. There is a possibility GW could play four Rockford area teams, if they make it to the fourth round. #16 Rockford (Guilford) (5-4) #9 Rockton (Hononegah) (7-2) #4 Machesney Park (Harlem) (8-1) #2 Rockford (Boylan) (9-0)This message has been edited. Steve Tucker in the SunTimes is predicting a Glenbard West - Wheaton-Warrenville South 7A championship game. I will take the Hilltoppers winning that game. Steve Tucker's Class 7A Playoff Predictions

what is the game time/location this weekend? I vaguely recall last year some wacky rule that does not let the top seed play all of their games at home...can someone refresh my memory? It's the spending, Stupid!

- Determining the Host Team and the Date and Time of the Game - In the first round, the higher seed hosts the game. In subsequent rounds, the school that has hosted fewer times during the current playoff series hosts the game. - If both teams have hosted an equal number of times: In the second round, the quarterfinal round, and in any semifinal where the bracket was paired 1 through 16, the higher seed hosts. In a semifinal game where the bracket was paired in two groups of eight, the team with the highest seeding criteria at the end of the regular season (wins, playoff points, conference standing, etc., as listed above) is the host. If all these criteria are equal, the team on the top of the bracket is the host. -- So, first round is at home and time announced today. If the Hilltoppers win and Hononegah wins on the road against St. Charles East, then the next game is in Rockton, IL.

Rockton is too far away...but: "Rockton is the kind of Village that people fall in love with. A treasure nestled on the northern edge of Winnebago County, it is history, with a future." Unlike Glen Ellyn...which just has a history.

Google maps shows the distance between Glenbard West and Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL as 84.1 miles taking I90. It is hard to get a read on the strength of the Rockford teams as the best NIC-10 teams have not played outside the Rockford area. St. Charles East, St. Charles North, and South Elgin are all from the Upstate Eight conference that was won by SC East (which was undeated in conference). SC East lost to Naperville North (5-4) by three touchdowns and Geneva by a touchdown in their two non-conference games. Geneva tied Glenbard South for the Western Sun title and beat Glenbard South by a two points. Glenbard West beat Glenbard South 49-0, so read into that what you will about the transitive property of football wins and the strength of the Upstate Eight. I think GW did get a better draw than WWS and GW does not have the prospect of having to go to East St. Louis for a semi-final game. WWS coach was complaining about their draw in the Daily Herald. Although Bogan's undeated season probably means nothing as they have only played weak city teams. St. Rita's star running back, Jahwon Akui, has an ankle injury and playoff status is still to be determined. DuPage playoff pairings full of surprises "Among the latter was Wheaton Warrenville South's Ron Muhitch, whose Tigers (8-1) had the criteria of a No. 4 overall seed in Class 7A but wound up as the No. 2 seed in an eight-team quadrant. In a nod to the four 7A St. Louis-area teams, the two southern quadrants were formed to reduce travel times. Because of the division into quadrants, the Tigers, who open against St. Laurence (6-3), sit in a brutal eight-team group with Bogan (9-0), Geneva (8-1) and St. Rita (7-2). "We should have been the fourth seed of all 32 teams, and we're not even close to that," said Muhitch, whose team wrapped up the outright DuPage Valley Conference title on Friday. "Our playoff points meant nothing this year. Our 8-1 record and our playoff points should have earned us a better seed." If WW South faces Glenbard West (9-0) for only the second time in the playoffs, it won't be until the 7A title game. The Hilltoppers, West Suburban Silver champs, garnered the top seed in the northern 16-team bracket and open at home against Rockford Guilford (5-4). Wheaton North (5-4), also in the northern bracket, travels to No. 2 Rockford Boylan (9-0). "We're just fortunate to come out with a top seed," said Glenbard West coach Chad Hetlet, whose team reached the 7A semifinals last year. "Once you clinch that playoff spot, it's hard not to look forward to Week 10."

Not any more ... the game is in Addison. -- GLENBARD NEWS 1. Football playoff game locations The football teams at Glenbard South and Glenbard West will play in their first round IHSA playoff games on Saturday, but due to poor field conditions at their home schools, the teams will play on turfed fields at other schools. Glenbard South will play Rochelle High School at 1 p.m. Saturday at Glenbard North, 990 N. Kuhn Road in Carol Stream. Glenbard West will play Rockford Guilford at 2 p.m. Saturday at Addison Trail High School, 213 N. Lombard Road in Addison. Tickets are $5. No passes are accepted to any IHSA playoff contest. Good luck to both teams!

I could have told you that Monday. That field resembles the La Brea tar pits. Why Addison Trail? Seems odd. Must have to be at a high school...rather than a community college or college.
|
| GlenEllynite |
There is no way that field can be played on this week. But let's keep in mind that this has been one the wettest falls on record. I think the team will survive a home game on the road.
|
| GlenEllynite |
They will likely "survive" all of their games on the road. Is that really the point?
|
| GlenEllynite |
Yes. If the worst thing to happen to this football team is that they have to relocate for a "home" game due to the wettest fall weather that we have seen in years and years and years and years, etc., then they are blessed.
