Why has he not been acknowledged at any games throughout the years? Or has he? At the very least...an introduction at halftime.

One of the best tributes to him is the Duchon Field sign. Developed, paid for and even installed by former players/fans as a salute to their coach. Nice!

I had the opportunity to speak with Coach Duchon on Saturday. I got the feeling he was happy being there as an observer. I can’t speak for him, but my guess is he would not want to be singled out. He is truly an incredibly nice guy.

Before the game started, Coach Duchon and Coach Covert were speaking. Behind them was the scoreboard that shows the date they each took GBW to state. I really wish I had a camera to capture that moment.

ok,i'm going to ask this but i'm not trying to jinx anything...
if fenwick loses (get it?) is it true that the game would not be at the field by the lake? i heard there's some isha rule that doesnt allow 3 playoff games at home. any truth to that?

If they win...they will either play at Proviso East in Maywood...or DGN.

The rule is posted on the third page of this thread and an explanation of the rule in relation to the Hitters is on page 5. Smile

Had the top seeds won in every game, the #1 seed would get to be home against #2 for the third game - even after hosting 2 - I think?!?

This week's game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM at Duchon. Game time forecast calls for a temp of 38 (feels like 30) a 40% chance of showers and winds from the SW at 13 mph.

Bundle up!

Go WEST!!

Way to go Hilltoppers! And the Raiders brought it home with a 14-7 victory over Hubbard at Gately this evening. Both teams going to the third round. AWESOME!

Golden Eagles coaches - take yet another bow!

Checked IHSA website and they have Glenbard West home this week. That's not what I heard announced yesterday. I was pretty sure they would be away for this round, but I'll check again tomorrow when they post the game day and time.

From Glenbard West's Website:

Congratulations to Hitter Football for their win over Fenwick. The final score was 56-14 with a running clock in the second half. Hitters play in the Quarter Finals against Downers Grove North at Downers Grove on Friday at 7:30pm. Tickets are $6. Ticket pre-sales begin Monday in the Bookstore and athletic office. Please listen to announcements for fan bus information. Let's take away Downers Grove North's home field advantage by filling the stands with Hitter fans!

** I still don't quite understand why a seven seed gets to host a one seed - I know the rule, I am just unsure of the reasoning. At least it isn't East St. Louis. Wink With West's fans it shouldn't be that big of a factor - remember Hinsdale Central??

Go WEST!!!
