"Rounding out the top five guard/center contingency is Notre Dame commit Chris Watt (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West). Watt
sticks on the opponent like paint on the wall. He delivers powerful first punches with his hands and then uses them to maintain
control and sustain his blocks. Like Burnette, his churning leg drive creates knock-back off the line of scrimmage."
Make up game at Wheaton College....OPRF 14.....GW 54.
OPRF came out blazing and scored early. Defensive adjustments
made and they were shut down. Second half included the mandated running clock and JV players because it was so out of reach.

5-0 is nice...but I think Coach Chad would admit that the challenging part of the season is ahead. York, HC, LT and DG North
will be the true tests. Will be interesting to see how they do against these teams.
I hope those poor b@stards at York can recover by tonight for their homecoming dance. Who the hell schedules a team that
might kick their @ss for homecoming? GW 42, York 6...game was no where as close as the score indicates.
The game was definitely over in the first 6 minutes, even with excruciatingly bad referees. Defense was outstanding! Running
game was clicking from the get go. One linebacker made a great sack. I think it was #57
WTG WEST!
“just like in real life there's still rules on this team. Unlike real life? Nobody's above the rules on this field." –
Coach Eric Taylor
I didn't think the refs did that bad a job. They have to call penalties...regardless of the eventual outcome. The personal
foul against GW....cheap shot by a kid that should have known better. Especially when you are stepping on the other guy's
throat in their own house. But everybody makes mistakes. My wife married me. Can't hold one play against someone.
Also,
I think the rule in HS is different than in the NCAA and NFL with regard to punt possession. I think the ball is considered
to still be in possession of the kicking team until the receiving team gets control of it. Obviously the kicking team can't
grab it and run like a kickoff. Because the hold happened before GW controlled the ball, the holding call was a 5 yard penalty
against West...giving the Dukes a first down. I checked with someone who would know about that this A.M. I was baffled at
what they were doing on that play also. If anyone knows the real rule instead of my poorly explained version, let us know.
I sat with friends on the home side. Boy them kids have a lot of "spirit" at York. But the GW side was equally into
it. They have a great facility...natural turf and all ...and it was a great way to spend a Friday night.
The team is already down at West this morning - watching film and meeting, then doing a clean-up at the school campus and
Prairie Path. What good citizens!!
Last year York came to town for West's Homecoming after the Dukes' notorious FaceBook/Red
Cup incident suspensions had been revoked. I believe West owed them one!!
Best quote of the Herald story is from York's coach: "Tommy (York
QB) didn't have time to scratch his nose, let alone find an open receiver."
Wow - Proofreading on five hours' sleep or less. I'll fix it - as soon as I make certain you're right!

The speaker made the following

You're right.
But you did get the game's score wrong. It was 48 - 6 (over
40 points ahead, hence the running clock).

The Dukes knew what they were up against and were as fired up as a team can be, IMO. The Pep Rally was AMAZING, as it always
is. I've yet to work at or attend a school with as much school spirit at York displays. My alliegences are somewhat torn only
because I like to see the Homecoming team win but GW's done a great job so far this season and they earned the win. I won't
be at the dance tonight but there will likely be much bruising, egos and body parts.

I've never heard a band play the fight song of the opposing team before. I thought that was a nice touch and I sang my heart
out.
Sophomores won with a final score of 48-0. Still haven't heard the freshman results yet. Well, at least it's
a good way to forget about the Boys in Blue.
