The Nittany lions have also picked up what could be their best recruit in the past few years in Illinois based defensive tackle Tommy Schutt. Schutt posted on his facebook page “Tommy Schutt is officially a Penn State Nittany Lion.”

One would wonder if his phone was ringing a lot yesterday. Not certain how these things work, but I assume he could pack it up and go wherever he pleases.

If JoePa had been able to go out gracefully, PSU may have been able to give Ohio State a run for Urban Meyer, but he's not going to touch this stank with a 10 foot pole.

It was too late for JoePa to exit gracefully. When he failed to report the abuse several years ago, he broke the law. All educators have had this child abuse law drilled into their heads for years. One can not accidently fail to report abuse!

Don't get me wrong, I think they all should burn. But I'm not sure a coach of a university football team has necessarily received training or notice of the requirements of child abuse laws. He's not dealing with children in the course of his duties, so I don't see why he would have been made aware.
What I really don't get is how the 28 year old (at the time) grad assistant (now an asst. coach at the school) saw what he saw in the shower and did nothing except go home and call his own father for advice. At the least you'd yell "What the F--- are you doing?!". More than likely you'd find the nearest object and bludgeon the SOB to death.
Ditto for the janitor who saw a different shower incident.

I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if Paterno wasn't versed in the requirements of the child abuse notification laws. Not that he shouldn't have notified the cops. Of course he should of, whether McQueary told him exactly what he saw or whether it was "only" what Paterno claims McQueary told him.
The whole thing reeks, and more victims will surface, and more info even more damning about all the adults involved will keep being unearthed. There's enough info right now to tear down everybody up and down the chain of command.

Question is why? If I had heard that story, gone to the administration with my concerns, I would have followed it up with them and asked them where the popo where. If they said anything other than they are on the way, I'd be dialing the numbers myself. And I doubt that I would have a relationship with the dude going forward.
Joe isn't some kindly old grandfather type. He has donated close to $5.0MM to that school. He is a savvy business guy who is not stupid.
How the hell could he have allowed this to happen to himself?
