Can anyone recommend a place to rent a storage unit? I am not looking for one that they bring to you such as PODS, but a unit where I can bring my junk to store. I have no idea what the going rate is for this type of storage. Are there any places near by?

I need one for a car - or even a garage would do!

We used Public Storage • Wheaton for a year or so about ten years ago. North end of Wheaton, on a side road a few blocks north of Dominick's Food and just south of St. Charles Road. No complaints.

The link above goes to a 5'x 5'unit, but they offer all sizes. Our single-car garage size unit cost about $100/mo. back then, but I'm sure it's going to be more today.

There's another on North Ave. In Lombard. North side of the street... a little east of Sweppes, as I recall.

We used the public storage on Finley in Lombard (between Roosevelt & Butterfield) for several months during a post-flood basement rehab.

Ted-thanks for the info. I just rented a unit at the Public Storage you suggested. Place was clean and secure and the on-site manager was helpful.
