I saw "The Departed" this afternoon, man what a good movie! If your a Martin Scorscese (sp?) this is a must see. Can't discuss the plot w/o giving something away. I thought Mark Wahlberg was the best.

Is it just me that some of Leo's previous movies not just debuted every other year toward the end of the year, but also been directed by old Marty? Not that there's anything wrong with a couple Pizano's having a close relation in the Hollywood station.

Cheers for beers and fine wine.

Leo was OK in this one, but I kept waiting for him to break into his Howard Hughes voice (another MS movie). Alec Baldwin, for as much as I despise his politics, turned in a good performance.

It got some good reviews curious about seeing it my self. Only movie I saw that MS and Leo together was "Gangs of New York" Which aside from Daniel Day Lewis was a terrible Movie. But this sounds like a type of movie that Scorcese should be good. I guess instead of trying to win an Oscar he will have to content himself with being one of the best directors never to win an Oscar.

Really, I'm going to reveal the end, so read no further. Also, I thought the movie was a bit long and not nearly as good as Scorcese could be. He must be really nearing the end of his career to have recieved all these over the top reviews for this.

It was the thing that got Damon's character killed. The shrink was probably instructed by the contents to hand it to the Marky Mark character. MM would otherwise not know who was the mole and killed the Martin Sheen character.

Spoiler Alert.

The envelope that the shrink opened up? . I think that was the audiotape phone conversations between Damon and Nicholson.

Actually I thought it wasn't such a great movie. To many holes in the plot, to many things that don't makes sense. See "Internal Affairs" The Hong Kong movie that Scorcesse based this on.

I was refering to, and I believe IMJ meant, the envelope that the shrink put in her top drawer at work. Leo's character gave it to her in the hallway and told her that if anything happened to him she should open it.

The only "Departed" cast member to get an Oscar nomination-Mark Wahlberg. I need to sign-up to fill in for Ebert, everybody else is. Wink
