and don't forget that the areas finest will be downtown. We will be out of town this weekend, I am so sad that we will have to miss this event.
We did go down the first year we were here and haven't been back since.
I don't quite understand why you have a "Taste of Glen Ellyn" and then not have any of the locals offering their food.

If you could have just one thing from each local restaurant at the Taste of GE, what would it be? For Mykah's, I would nominate her egg rolls!

All was quiet in town at 5:45 this morning but the Carny people have definitely arrived. Hope this doesn't create a backup at Bucks.

Correction, I think I saw T's Pasta Beef Ribs, Chicken, & More (or whatever their name is) on the list.

I'm just going to see ED, world-renowned rock band.

I wonder if "Superman" will be there. I'm sure he's harmless, but he still creeps me out.

The ride into town from the Gateway to the Village
[5 Corners] is better than the Carnival rides.
The barricade slolom on Main is the Best. Eek
The bumper bang and backup on Western is not for the faint of Heart either. Roll Eyes

Yossarian, I have often wondered what the "idea" is behind "Superman".
I am really freaked out by him as well, I also have tjow boys who think it is really cool when they see him in town. The scarier sight is when he is at the pool in full costume.

In my opinion, Fanette is a cool 28 year-old. She has been intrigued by Superman since she moved to Glen Ellyn when she was 13. Superman is now a running joke in the Fan household. We look forward to seeing him this weekend.

Arten, you are right on with Paulie. I hope he is the next one to get whacked, if not then maybe the Prostate Cancer will get him.

Your commentary regarding the road construction is right on.
LOL

A lot of you know that I have a problem with our tax dollars in the form of police manpower and public works manpower going to fund the Chamber of Commerce, a private organization. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to file a FOIA request to figure out just how much it costs the village to supply these services. Also, and I know this would be unpopular, would it be easy to sue the village in order to force them to charge the going rate for these services? Not that you'd want to be the Grinch-like dude to do it...but what is the legal thinking on this situation?

I think the Village undertakes the responsibility to pay for these types of costs when it "permits" such events as these. If you want to have private groups pay for the extra municipal services necessary to have such activities function safely, then it must come through the cost of the permit. Anyway, I think you are picking nits on this one. The cops are working anyway, maybe there is some overtime. Also, no one ever picks up garbage anyway so we know there are no extra costs there.
