Went to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman's direction of this play last night. Haunting and painful. Hardy is brilliant as the alcoholic. Not a happy play, but one that provoked a lot of conversation.

Wow, it sounds amazing!

I just checked it out and unfortunately $40 is out of my price range. Know any single guys who might be willing to spring for a ticket? Lol

Didn't know this thread existed until just now. The wife and I went down there a week ago tonight. We had purchased a package deal of tickets so for us the play and another one were thrown into the mix as a bonus.

Dark plot with a few turns at the end as it all came together. The set, as always with those at The Goodman, were world class.

This was the first time I had been in the small theater. I was expecting something much larger (for small) and was very surprised at it's scale. The actors were using the side isles for entering and egress from the couple of center stages. Some nudity, and a whole lot of foul language, so not for the kids.

Hoffman was not present at this production. Probably was at the beginning of the run.

It was haunting. I could see this play numerous times and find new aspects on which to focus. Fiona Robert is terrific as the teen.

I will bet Hoffman makes a movie of this. It will be brilliant.

Also bought the package from West alum. I thought this was the best show so far.
