So, as far as movies go, I was going to take the kids to see Shrek this weekend. Any opinions as to whether the 3D version (at $3 more per ticket) is worth it?

Hilarious review. Roeper is great on Roe & Roeper on WLS-AM

OK, have to put my feminist hat on here....I'm no fan of Sarah Jessica Parker; frankly, I think she relies too much on cute little tricks & gimmicks instead of acting. However. She hasn't had any "work" done yet, and neither has Kathie Lee Gifford, as far as I can tell, nor Hoda Kobt - and I applaud them all for that, and am pretty peeved that you all are gloating over them sans makeup like it's open season on women of a certain age. What on earth is FUNNY about women without makeup, or women brave enough, in their professions, to refuse plastic surgery? They should be applauded for that. They look their ages, and there is nothing comical about that, nor should there be. Why don't we gloat over photos of men of that age without benefit of makeup or Photoshop? Double standard, that's why.
(Taking Feminist hat off, slinking back to work as I have a deadline fast approaching.)

thanks Scribbler, I knew you could put into words what I was thinking. Although, disagree with Kathie Lee...I think she'd had a little work done.

Many a times I go to work without make up. I've been fighting acne all my life and sometimes "painting" my face is bleh! Like I'm "patching and painting" an old house. I feel a nice clean face, especially if I have a little sun glow, works. Maybe curl my lashes... I'm not too dreadful or raccoony to get through the day. My co-workers sure don't say anything. Actually I'm on the search for a very lightweight-but for oily (tis the season now) skin. Any suggestions -ladies? I have Mac now and it seems like theatrical make-up -no kidding! --Jeez how did we get on this subject?
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

If Kathie Lee has had some work done, she still at least looks like herself and her age, unlike some of the other plastic surgery mistakes out there. But honestly, I can't denigrate anyone who goes under the knife like that, because I can't imagine the pressure those women in Hollywood & the visual media are under. (Until threads like this give me some idea, anyway.) I can't imagine what it would be like to have photographers follow my every move, and then to have every photograph torn to shreds like in this thread.
Anyway, I still don't want to go see SEX AND THE CITY 2 - but that doesn't mean I don't admire the notion of women in their 40's & 50's still portrayed as sexual beings, because that rarely happens in Hollywood. I just wish this franchise did it a little less stridently and one-dimensionally and actually allowed the "girls," as almost every review insists on calling them, to grow up a bit.

Lupe, visit a Clinique counter in a department store. They will help you. They have makeup for all skin types. I have never known anyone who uses Clinique to look over done on makeup.
My earlier comment on this thread meant that makeup seldom hides anything.
None of the comments on this thread bother me. Why? Because I have lived long enough to know that men age faster than women. (They just don't notice it or believe it!)

clinique makes an acne skin care line that is prob. slightly more expensive than proactive, but you dont have to do that "send you every 60 days"thing, which i hate. my daughter has been using it for about 6 months and her skin looks great (and we replace what she needs when she needs it.) also, Boots No. 7 (at target and cvs) is from england, low price, GREAT products...look for their moisturizer with foundation...very light.

Seems this thread has become "Skin Care and the City". Can I have my thread back? There's still much to say about the bimbo's of the big screen.

OK, so believe it or not, and I swear, I haven't seen a non kid movie in 18 months, I saw this movie last night.
So, my $10 helped support the box office draw of the show.

Yoss, very funny, I'll be chuckling to 'Skin Care in the City' all day.
Scrib, I find myself running around without make up more and more. After getting to a certain *cough-cough* age I wonder why I spend so much time and money on make-up.
