This summer's movie season looks to me to be one of the better one's in recent memory. Due to high prices at the theater, I tend to only go to see movies with great special effects. Drama's and comedies are movies I wait to see on DVD or pay per view. My short list of movies I'm looking forward to-
-Ironman -Indiana Jones -Hulk -Batman -Tropic Thunder -Speed Racer (depends on reviews)

Indiana Jones Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Canspian Kung Fu Panda Wall-E and I'll have to take my daughter to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 movie.
My husband and I would be most likely to see the Batman movie, Bangkok Dangerous, and Clone Wars....but, who knows!

I have to admit that it has been a month and a half since we saw our last movie, and 3 months before that. Being frugal with our money means not going to the movies often. However I am really stoked about some of the one this summer and will be making a great attempt to see them all in the theaters. Waiting for these on DVD just don't cut it this time.

Ironman and Tropic Thunder look great but I may have to try and wait until it gets to the cheap theater.

The only thing appealing about speed racer is the fact that Christina Ricci is in it even though she doesn't look as cute as she has in her recent projects.
Perplexed, good question. I don't remember anything awful that would prevent a 9 yr old from seeing it. Milatary killings, a lot of bombs blowing up that sort of stuff, but I don't recall loads of foul language or any pg-13 situations.
I've taken both the 12 year old and 9 year old to see Ironman... they both loved it. I hate comic book movies with a passion, but honestly this one was excellent. Downey Jr was great... I think he's found his niche.
We are eargerly awaiting Indiana Jones 4. Just hearing the title music during the trailer at the show gets the heart beating faster. One thing I've noticed.. the trend for some time has been to have middle easteners as the "bad guys" in films. What a shame... nothing is better than outwitting Nazis.
I saw Narnia: Prince Caspian last Friday. I think overall its better than the first, but you better make sure to watch the first before seeing this one. This one is more action driven, more/better battle sequences.
Definitely darker in tone with some scary imagery sequences (particularly the scene involving the White Witch). There are arrow piercings and swordplay, but all essentially bloodless (even a beheading is bloodless?! - the camera pans away but you can tell whats going to happen).
I thought that some of the "messages" of the film (e.g. loss of faith) are poorly handled. The motivations for some of the characters' actions are unclear enough so that when you finally get to the "moral of the story" wrap up at the end, you have to mentally reassign what was behind their actions.
Anyway, if you've got a son into swordfighting and the Narnia kids (and I do) they get a lot of what they're looking for here. You'll get better acting from the kid actors and a tad bit more adult fare from the script. You don't get as deliciously evil a villain as Tilda Swinton in the first movie, however. But overall its pretty well done.
