REGISTRATION. Anyone may read messages here. Those who wish to post messages must register. Registration is free.

Although you are welcome to register with an anonymous UserName ("handle") rather than your real name, registration requires that you enter a real email address to which your final verification step will be sent.Users of anonymous web-based email services such as gMail, Yahoo! etc. are often blocked from registering; if your email address is rejected please use your real (ISP-based) address. If you do not have a real email address, email us and we will manually override the block for you.PRIVACY. We will not sell, share or use your identity and/or email address for any purpose other than maintaining this service, although we must reserve the right to reveal your identity (and/or whatever other information we may know about you) in the event of legal action arising from any message posted by you.We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising company, to show ads when you visit our website. Like all such commercial services, Google may use information (not including your name, address, email address, and/or telephone number) about your visits to this and other web sites in order to provide “targeted” advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you. If you would like more information about this service and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, visit the Google Advertising and Privacy page.
USE AND ABUSE. We reserve the right to edit or delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. Additionally, we reserve the right to block access to the board by any user for any, or no, reason.Although this board is open to the public — it is not publicly owned. It is therefore not subject to First Amendment "Free Speech" requirements. ("Free Speech" in the case of the Internet means you are free to operate your own bulletin board.)
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Remember, kids and grandparents read this board, and just because something is posted elsewhere on the internet doesn't necessarily make it suitable for reposting here.Unacceptable content includes (but is not limited to) posts which attack or otherwise demean individuals and organizations, whether public or private.Note that although personal opinions and reviews are rarely actionable, factual assertions that impugn one’s reputation, morality, integrity or even ability to competently perform their job can expose a poster to liability.
Regarding political, governmental and similar matters, discussing policies and procedures is always preferable to focusing on personalities. Nonetheless, elected officials, high-ranking public officials and other individuals who have chosen to make themselves highly visible are generally fair game for public discourse, but please keep your posts civil. Negative comments about hired staff and other public or private employees, whether identified by name or description, are generally unacceptable.
Religious issues in general — meaning policies and procedures on a grand scale — are generally acceptable, but this is not a proper forum for discussing the inner workings of local houses of worship.
You agree not to post any copyrighted material without permission. Although "fair use" snippets of copyrighted material is allowed, please post links to the original content of such material.
You are solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this bulletin board (aka message board or discussion forum), the Glen Ellyn Web Site (www.Glen-Ellyn.com), Groupee Inc. (formerly InfoPop, Inc., the makers of the bulletin board software), and their agents and/or assigns with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).
Because of the real-time nature of this message board it is impossible for us to instantly review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. We monitor posted messages on an irregular basis, but do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.Anyone who feels that a particular message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by by email or telephone (630-469-7200). We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and, if we agree with your complaint, we will make every effort to edit or delete it within a reasonable amount of time.
UNWELCOME ADVERTISING. Finally, note that commercial advertisements, spam, chain letters, MLM and/or pyramid schemes, and other inappropriate solicitations will be deleted and their posters suspended. STAY ON TOPIC! Please remember that this is a Glen Ellyn resource. Thoughtful discussion of local issues is welcome, but — in general — generic discussions of national and international issues are not. (Exceptions have heir own forums.)
in conclusion... If you've read this far, Thank You! No matter what the above legalese seems to suggest, we really do welcome your participation!Ted Eselgroth
